Eli Nixon: DIY Primordial Futurism: A flamboyant invitation to celebrate horseshoe crabs and deep time

Join suitcase theater artist Eli Nixon for an all-ages homage to horseshoe crabs and their historical hatching patterns along the east coast. Audiences will be invited into low-stakes opportunities for participation, including: naturedrag, comics drawing, fabric handling, and singing crabaoke (power ballads with altered lyrics about crabs)! This show is a live, touring, theatrical trailer for Eli Nixon’s illustrated manual “Bloodtide: A New Holiday in Homage to Horseshoe Crabs,” available for sale at the3rdthing.press.

Poncili Creación: Dirty Laughing Molecules

We bring you a twist on a traditional hero’s tale, told through heart-racing, larger-than-life puppetry. The story unfolds under the guise of a Hollywood film set, with the pretension that an actual “movie” is being made in real time. Bring your best (or worst) outfit because I heard they are looking for extras. Deliciously cinematic, the experience will be like eating “popcorn” dusted with salt from the soul. Bon appetit!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

ELI NIXON builds portals and gives guided tours to places that don’t yet exist, or exist but call for creative intervention. They are a settler-descended transqueer clown, a cardboard constructionist, and a maker of plays, puppets, pageants, parades, suitcase theaters & low-tech public spectaculah. Eli collaborates with artists, activists, schools, mental health and recovery centers, libraries and the more-than-human world to expand imaginative capacity and build muscles for collective liberation. Eli concocts installations, flotillas and performances on beaches, parking lots and stages. They delight in amateur flag dancing, naturedrag, and DIY festoonery. Eli is a Rhode Islander living on Narragansett land. They are a New Georges affiliated artist, an organizer with Showing Up for Racial Justice- RI, and part of the queer clown collective, ‘brotherdykes unlimited.’ BLOODTIDE is Eli’s illustrated manual for celebrating a new holiday in homage to horseshoe crabs, available through The 3rd Thing Press. Everyone is invited!

PONCILI CREACIÓN is a puertorican performance duo that focuses around their foam rubber sculptures, to create activities based on the concepts of Raw Magic and Beautiful Nothingness. These sculptures created to be manipulated by the human body or parts of it, some as small as a cherries, others as large as trees, are tools for creating whimsical power that stains reality.
