Other information

The Community Water Quality Testing Program (CWQT), facilitated by Billion Oyster Project and nine other partner labs throughout NYC, engages community scientists in the weekly testing of the NY-NJ Harbor Estuary for 20 weeks of the year. Volunteers and community partners test the water for enterococcus bacteria (sewage pollution), which can be harmful to humans and prevent recreational activities.

ABOUT OUR PARTNER

BILLION OYSTER PROJECT

Billion Oyster Project was founded in 2014 by Murray Fisher and Pete Malinowski, who envisioned a healthy, biodiverse New York Harbor — and who shared the belief that restoration without education is temporary.
