Event Details

James Ezra is a Brooklyn-born pianist and composer whose work spans modern jazz, contemporary classical music, and the American songbook. A graduate of LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, he earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where he studied Piano Performance. As a performer, composer, and music director, James works across a wide range of musical styles and disciplines. His career highlights include his original art song cycle Fallen, performing as keyboardist with the popular vocal group T.3, serving as music director for comedy cabaret shows at The Slipper Room, KGB Bar, and Club Cumming, and performances at venues including Carnegie Hall, Birdland Jazz Club, and Public Records. James is a Musicals Now Award winner for his original work in musical theatre. In September, James will perform for two nights at Domino Park, presenting a program exploring the beauty and expressive depth of the jazz ballad. On the second night, he will be joined by virtuosic saxophonist Alex Weremchuk. Tenor saxophonist Alex Weremchuk brings a blend of straight-ahead and modern jazz stylings. Raised on New York’s expansive musical heritage, Alex’s saxophone playing began immersed in hard bop, studying canonical recordings and seeing the music come to life at venues around the city. Alex would go on to study music at Hamilton College, and his love for jazz has evolved into a musical practice that incorporates multiple instruments, synthesizers, and other aesthetic worlds. This varied musical diet reflects a deep fascination and excitement that Alex aims to share with the listener in each performance.
