Catch a sneak peek of Molière in the Park's DON JUAN ahead of their full production run in September. Translated by Stephen Wadsworth and directed by Drama Desk nominee Lucie Tiberghien, DON JUAN is one of French literary legend Molière's most thrilling plays. It tells the story of a notorious seducer who relentlessly pursues romantic conquests, dismissing moral and social norms in the name of absolute freedom. A feverish descent from seduction to reckoning, the play blends comedy, tragedy, and the supernatural, pushing Molière’s exploration of hypocrisy and morality further than any of his other works.

In MIP's staging, three actors (Naomi Lorrain, Daniel Pearce, Michelle Veintimilla) transform before our eyes into more than ten characters, while Don Juan (Keshav Moodliar) and his faithful sidekick Sganarelle (Alana Raquel Bowers) remain the only fixed figures in a world that constantly shifts around them.

The work-in-progress presentation will feature live original cello music by Drama Desk nominated composer Johnathan Moore.

MOLIERE IN THE PARK

Molière in the Park is like Shakespeare in the Park’s cool French cousin who lives in Brooklyn. They present a contemporary production of a Moliere play every year and additional readings and events throughout the year. Always free. Always world class theater. Molière in the Park believes that Molière’s plays, when produced through an inclusive and contemporary lens, explore the human condition in a way that promotes generosity of spirit, fosters unity over division, and spreads joy. Director — Lucie Tiberghien

Founding Executive Director

A Brooklynite since 2001, Lucie Tiberghien was raised in France and Switzerland and has spent more than 15 years developing, directing, and championing new work in New York City and across the country. Her directing credits include world premieres at La Jolla Playhouse, the Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF), Second Stage Theater, Rattlestick Theater, Arena Stage, Hartford Stage, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Manhattan Class Company, and more.

In addition to her work as a director, Lucie is an accomplished translator and adapter, with productions presented both in Paris and New York. Bringing free, accessible theater—and the works of Molière in particular—to Brooklyn has long been a personal and artistic dream, one she is thrilled to have realized through Molière in the Park. In 2021, Lucie was awarded the prestigious designation of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government in recognition of her contributions to the arts.

Translator/Adaptor — Stephen Wadsworth

Stephen Wadsworth's translations and productions of plays by Marivaux introduced the playwright to American theater audiences in the 1990s. For his work on Marivaux and Molière, he was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the government of France.

Composer/Cellist — Johnathan Moore

A highly innovative cellist from New Haven, CT, Johnathan Moore has an unconventional approach to music. Growing up in a musically inclined family, Johnathan was exposed to various musical genres that influenced his unorthodox identity. Johnathan achieved 1st Place in the Yale School of Music Solo Competition with his original composition. This recognition enabled Johnathan to collaborate with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra as a soloist, performing at Arts & Ideas Festival in New Haven, CT. Johnathan Moore has demonstrated his unorthodox style on the cello at various institutions, including the Guggenheim Museum, Alice Tully Hall, Symphony Space, FSU Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography, & Molière in the Park.

Naomi Lorrain

Naomi Lorrain is a Harlem based actor/playwright. Her play, DUCK HUNT, semifinalist for the 2026 National Playwrights Conference at the O'Neil, was selected for the 2026 Fault Line Theatre’s Irons in the Fire new play development program and her play, how to roll a blunt, finalist for the 2021 National Playwrights Conference, has an upcoming production with Second Stage Theater (2ST) April 2027 at the Pershing Square Signature Center. Some acting credits: BROADWAY: EUREKA DAY (MTC); JORDANS (The Public Theater), DAPHNE (Lincoln Center Theater), and THE IMAGINARY INVALID (Molière in the Park) TV: ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK (Netflix), ELEMENTARY (CBS), MADAM SECRETARY (CBS) and THE GOOD FIGHT (CBS). Naomi was a Disney Television Discovers: Talent Showcase Staff Writer, an alum of the Page 73 Writers Group and is a proud member of The Make Good Project. Kaliswa Brewster

Kaliswa Brewster is a first-generation Liberian-American actress, producer, and educator based in New York. On television, she has recurred on Billions, Time After Time, and Release, with additional credits including Law & Order, Blue Bloods, God Friended Me, Daredevil, and more. Film credits include Paterno (HBO Films), starring Al Pacino. On stage, she has performed with Hartford Stage, Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Guthrie Theater, Signature Theatre, and more. As a voice actor, she works across commercials, television, film, and audiobooks. Kaliswa serves as President of the Board of Molière in the Park, where she appeared as Dorine in the company’s 2023 production of Tartuffe or The Hypocrite, and is a Co-producer of the nine-time Tony Award-nominated Cats: The Jellicle Ball. She is also a member of Black Theater United’s Collective. Kaliswa holds an MFA from American Conservatory Theater and a Certificate in Classical Theatre from the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art.

Keshav Moodliar

Keshav Moodliar is a Brooklyn-based actor, born in Pune and raised between Bombay and New Delhi. Recent credits include - Prince Faggot (Studio Seaview), Henry 6 (The Old Globe), The Odyssey (A.R.T Boston) The Scarlet Letter (Two River Theatre), Queen (Long Wharf and NAATCO), Arms and the Man (Gingold Theatre) Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare Theatre New Jersey), Measure for Measure(The Acting Company) . Film/TV: Extrapolations (Apple), “SINK SANK SUNK” (mini-series), In Defense of Civil Society (Independent), “Untitled Paul Simms Pilot” (FX). MFA: Juilliard.

Daniel Pearce

Daniel Pearce*: MIP: The Miser. Broadway: Othello, Machinal, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Off-Broadway credits include 12 productions with the Public Theater most recently Hamlet in Central Park. Also: Timon of Athens (TFANA), The Most Deserving (Women's Project), Falling (Minetta Lane), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Irish Rep). Film and TV credits include: The Last Thing Mary Saw, Salt, Invisible Sign, Godzilla, "The Good Fight", "Bull", "Murder of a President", "Law & Order" (and all variants)), "Chappelle's Show", “Queen's Supreme", and upcoming “Will Trent”. Pearce received his MFA from NYU and a 2017 Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship for excellence in acting.

Michelle Veintimilla

Michelle Veintimilla is an Ecuadorian-American performing artist based in NYC. Her credits span Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and international Theater, Film, and Television. Most notably, she starred on Broadway alongside Chita Rivera in the Tony-nominated musical, The Visit. On film, she starred in Stephen Belber’s film, What We Do Next, opposite Corey Stoll. Her favorite television credits include "Seven Seconds," "The Baker And The Beauty," and "Gotham." She is thrilled to return to Prospect Park with MIP after making her debut in Tartuffe in 2023.

Event FAQ

A work-in-process presentation is an early behind-the-scenes look at a full production that is still in rehearsal. The full length of the play, accompanied by live cello, will be presented, while work is still underway on some elements of the final production, e.g. blocking, costumes, or set design.

Approximate runtime is 100 minutes, no intermission. Check-in opens 30 minutes prior to the show.
